The Welsh Women’s Budget Group is made up of a dedicated team of policy and governance professionals with a variety of experience across gender equality. We’re led by elected trustees with a wealth of knowledge and expertise to help end gender-based financial discrimination in Wales.

Cerys Furlong is WWBG Board Chair and Chief Executive of
GroupEd, a software company based in Cardiff providing software for schools.
Cerys was previously a Board member of Chapter Arts Centre, Vice Chair of the
Bevan Foundation and Chief Executive of Chwarae Teg (2017-2022). Additionally, she was appointed to the Cardiff City Region Economic Development Board in 2018 and was also previously appointed by the Welsh Government to serve on the Women in STEM Board, Strengthening Equalities and Advancing Human Rights Board, Local Government Finance Reform and Public Services Leadership Panel.
In 2023 Cerys was appointed by the Welsh Government to the
inaugural Commission on Tertiary Education and Research, now MEDR, responsible for the strategy, funding and oversight of higher education, further education, adult and community learning, apprenticeships and traineeships and sixth forms. Cerys was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of Cardiff University in 2017 for her services to gender equality.
Tash is an experienced policy and research professional, with over a decade’s experience working in the field of gender equality. Now working as Senior Policy Manager for Marie Curie Cymru, Tash has previously worked as a Senior Researcher in the Senedd and as Head of Policy, Public Affairs and Research at Chwarae Teg.
This experience provides Tash with substantial knowledge and understanding of the inequality that women and girls continue to face, and the solutions needed to drive meaningful change. Tash’s previous work includes delivery of the Welsh Government’s Gender Equality Review and Chwarae Teg’s annual State of the Nation report.
Outside of work, Tash holds a number of voluntary roles, including as treasurer for a community concert band.
Rakhi is a finance professional having worked in the investment banking industry for almost 20 years, most recently as an Executive Director. After graduating from Queen Mary, University of London and obtaining a BSc in Economics, Finance and Management she immediately started working for a leading Investment Bank where she specialised in the product development and structuring of Funds and Special Purpose Vehicles mainly domiciled in Ireland, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Cayman Islands with them being distributed globally for an array of client types.
Alongside her successful career in finance Rakhi, has always supported charities close to her heart and developed a strong desire towards encouraging equal rights for females and minority groups. WWBG is a strong advocate for exactly that and Rakhi is privileged to be a part of a strong and diverse Board which contributes to making a difference to the lives of those living in Wales.
Dr Rachel Minto is a feminist academic based in Cardiff University’s Wales Governance Centre in the School of Law and Politics. She has a particular interest in gender mainstreaming and has published many academic and policy pieces on the subject. Beyond academia, she has also served as Chair of Cardiff Women’s Aid.
Sarah is an accomplished financial accountant with over a decade of experience in the industry. She studied financial courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Currently, she lends her expertise to a local health board, where her insights and analytical skills contribute to its success. Sarah’s professional journey has also taken her through various roles in practice and the public sector, showcasing her adaptability and depth of knowledge.
Sarah exemplifies commitment to her community through her volunteer work at local charities, where she applies her financial acumen to drive positive change.
Hannah Griffiths has worked as the Coordinator of the Wales Women’s Budget Group (WWBG) since September 2022.
As Coordinator, Hannah oversees the activities of the charity, including producing policy and research outputs, developing and delivering gender responsive budgeting training and engaging with the Welsh Government and the Senedd. Alongside her WWBG work, Hannah is pursuing a PhD at Cardiff University on the topic of linguistic justice and minority language policy and planning.
Katie is the newest addition to the WWBG team and oversees all marketing and PR production.
Katie has worked in the media and communications landscape for 5+ years and has a strong marketing background. In addition to this, she is a journalist working across health, sex and relationships with a focus on gender equality and it’s impacts on gender motivated violence in marginalised groups. Her book, published by HQ, a Harper Collins in-print, will be available in 2025.
